I am Legend.

So Brandon & I first saw this movie in the theatre fresh off reading the book. We were pissed. Without ruining it for people who haven’t read or seen, let’s just say that the two are NOTHING a like. They shouldn’t even be called the same thing. The movie could be inspired by the book, but that’s about it. And for the record, the book is way better. Even though I do love me some Will Smith.

Fast forward 3 months… we rented the movie for another perspective. I have to say that I enjoyed it much more. I’m terrible at remembering what I read (I could reread the same book – and often do – and it’s like reading it the first time) so for me it was a lot less irritating. The end still irritated me, but that’s the part that made the book so great so it’s understandable. Brandon, with a better memory, was still pissed.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that this would have been a great movie, had they not associated it so much with the book. So in order to contradict me, you have to both read the book and see the movie. Weigh in… :)

PS – We haven’t heard from the family who supposedly wanted Bama and loved her so much. They didn’t come get her last weekend because they had something going on and they haven’t called today to come and get her. I fear Brandon’s suspicion was right and they’re not coming back. Anyone looking for a crazy yellow lab?!?
