Nukless Night #1

Will did GREAT last night. As I mentioned he went to be about 6:10 and fell asleep really quickly. He woke up about 7:30 crying and did ask for it, but he was still pretty much asleep and I just rocked him a minute and he went right back down. He was sweating like crazy (the vent was closed in his room) so I think THAT might have been the cause of his wake up. Then at 2:45 this morning, he was crying saying “Mommy where’s my nuk?!?” I reminded him that it was lost and he whined a little but laid back down. He wanted me to cuddle, but not wanting to trade one vice for another, we comprised and I sat in the chair in his room for 15 minutes. He was still awake when I left but stayed in bed for half an hour. He got up again at 3:30 and I just went in and put him right back down. He asked to cuddle again, but didn’t ask for his nuk that time. Then he got up at 6:10 (which is normal wake up time)!! He did ask for it when he woke up again, but no major meltdown or anything.

We are REALLY surprised. We thought we’d have a much rougher night. I LOVE him not having a nuk already. He interacts with me so much more when we’re reading before nap/bed and was quicker to come out of his room this morning (usually it takes him a good 15-30 minutes to adjust to the idea of entering the world of the living and putting away his nuk & taggie).

Let’s hope that it will continue to go this well! *crosses fingers*
